AI Generated Morphometry
Morphometric Fields is a series of 300 live-generated artworks merging AI image generation and generative art to unite art and science. Using a database of antlers analyzed through morphometrics, Obvious explores the intersection of nature, mathematics, and artistic creation.
They trained machine learning models to generate new antler structures — mathematical reflections of nature’s rules, partially grasped and reimagined by AI. The horns, drawn as fine white lines over a fragmented grid, evoke scientific precision and humanity’s limited understanding of natural order.
Generative Flow Fields
Obvious then designed flow fields using generative algorithms, with the antler intersections as rotation centers. These flows embody nature’s complexity and unpredictability—qualities at the heart of its beauty and the source of the fascination it continues to inspire.
The flow colors draw from whisky blends, their environments, and materials. The flows themselves evoke water, essential to life. Morphometric Fields reveals the mathematical structures underlying nature—frameworks from which beauty emerges and through which it manifests.
