A series of 1000 AI generated dreams
Dream Capsules is a NFT series released on Braindrops in 2022 composed of 1000 dreams created using a combination of AI algorithms.
For their creation, Obvious used text generation algorithms (GPT3), text to image algorithms (VQGAN+CLIP originated by @advanoun), and super-resolution algorithms.
This combination of algorithms automatically create a visualization of dreams imagined using AI. Each dream capsule is the result of this creation process, and each one of them is unique.
Traits & Rarity
Each capsule was given a type (Dream, Nightmare) and a rarity (Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary) which defines the frequency at which this dream or nightmare occurs.
Finally, each capsule has an emotion trait, which describes the main underlying feeling of the capsule.
Rewards
Depending on its rarity, the collected Dream Capsules allowed the collectors to access some rewards, the access to a collector's club, to having their artwork exhibited in a dedicated show, receiving physical prints.
Some collectors gained the right to claim a second NFT created using a script of their own dream, and have their artwork presented in a dedicated room of the exhibition together with their alias.
The Dream Capsules Exhibition
A few months after the drop, Obvious organized an exhibition in Paris. Each of the 1000 artworks of the collection was displayed in one of the two distinct spaces, one for dreams, one for nightmares.
The exhibition was held at Ellia Gallery, rue de Turenne in Paris. Many visitors got the chance to discover the series through this exhibition which hosted collectors, friends, passers-by and organized group visits.
The Dormant Script
A year after the drop, Obvious launched a challenge allowing the collectors to play a game where they would exchange NFTs to complete quests, and earn rewards such as some Obvious merch.
A year later, Obvious wrote a book to tell the whole story behind the collection.
